TAFE to collaborate with Community Colleges

In an initiative sponsored by the NSW Board of Vocational Education and Training (BVET), TAFE NSW Western Institute has signed Memorandums of Understanding with the Central West Community College, Western College, Condobolin Adult Education and Robinson College in Broken Hill.
Warren Grimshaw, Chairman of the ACE -TAFE Committee of BVET recently attended ceremonies in Orange and Wellington to witness the establishment of the new relationships through which the organisations have agreed to collaborate in delivering services to the community, business and industries in the region.
Adrian Mitchell, Institute Director said, "I am looking forward to working with the Adult and Community Education providers to enable closer alignment of training to industry needs and most importantly, better employment outcomes for people in Western NSW."
Chief Executive Officer of Western College, Ron Maxwell said, "There are a number of areas where the two training organisations compliment each other, and there is potential for future partnerships to help match people's skills with industry needs."
"Anything our organisations can do to enable more people to gain skills and take advantage of new opportunities for employment in various industries throughout the area will be welcomed."
Central West Community College CEO, Dianne Kitcher also remarked that this is an important step towards improving the training opportunities for people in Central Western NSW.
