TAFE Western has been successful with a number of applications for funding from the Australian Government for the construction of new facilities and the development of capability through purchasing equipment or refurbishing facilities.

Education Innovation Fund (EIF)

Heavy Vehicles Centre

The project will provide new, purpose built facilities for the delivery of Heavy Vehicle and Road Transport training on the Bourke Hill site in Dubbo.

Training Infrastructure Investment for Tomorrow (TIIFT)

Green Skills Trade Centre

The construction of a Green Skills Trade Centre at the Forest Road Campus in Orange to raise public and industry awareness of and incorporate new ‘green' technologies in the delivery of plumbing, electro-technology and construction.

Better TAFE Facilities (BTF)

The projects to be undertaken with this funding are:

College video conferencing facilities

Purchase of video-conferencing infrastructure to increasing the Institute's E-learning capacity at 16 campuses.

Computer and server upgrades

Purchase of new ICT equipment to update the teaching and learning environment at 20 campuses.

Wireless Access

A pilot implementation of wireless networking at 10 sites to test the application of the technology.

Institute Office

The construction of a new Institute Office at the Forest Road site in Orange to allow the relocation of staff from current leased premises.

Children's Services Upgrade: Bathurst and Parkes

Refurbishment of the Children's Services facilities located at Bathurst and Parkes to enhance the practical learning of students and expand opportunities for the delivery of Certificate III and Diploma courses.

Nursing Upgrades: Orange, Cowra and Lithgow

Refurbishment of existing facilities at Cowra and Lithgow to enable the delivery of health programs, in particular enrolled nursing, and the purchase of equipment to facilitate the delivery of the Diploma at Orange, a major regional health centre.

Mobile Delivery Unit: Nursing and Children's Services

Purchase of two custom built trailers and specialist equipment to enable the delivery of Children's Services and Health programs in small, remote and Aboriginal communities providing employment opportunities and addressing community capacity building.

Renewable Energy Capacity Building

Purchase of equipment to enable the delivery of Certificate II Renewable Energy to position local industry to install carbon friendly appliances (photovoltaic panels, solar hot water, wind turbines).

Road Transport Capacity Building Strategy

Purchase of a truck to enable delivery using the Institute's Road Transport Simulator to be undertaken in remote communities, correctional centres and schools.

Bathurst Multimedia

Purchase of IT equipment for the multimedia centre at Bathurst to increase delivery at higher AQF levels and improve articulation pathways to Charles Sturt University.

Broken Hill

Purchase of equipment at Broken Hill in the construction, electrical and metal fabrication areas to enable the campus to meet the trade training requirements of local industry.

Mining Simulator

Purchase of a mining simulator to better service the existing needs of themining industry, prepare local people for future employment in mining and build on several successful Aboriginal employment strategies that are already in place.
