John Rudge - Category Winner, Manufacturing and Engineering
As well as winning his category John was also named Most Outstanding Graduating Student for the Institute.
Throughout his apprenticeship and Certificate III in Electrotechnology John has been recognised for his commitment to excellence and dedication. He achieved top marks in each year of his course and been recognised with many awards, culminating in a Silver Medal at the 39th International WorldSkills competition in Japan last year.
His TAFE studies were completed by block-release at Dubbo College, where his teacher David Arnold recognised his talent and enthusiasm and encouraged him to compete in World Skills Competitions. David also nominated John for this award.
John is a volunteer with NSW Rural Fire Service and an enthusiastic sportsman. At the moment he is involved with Tennis, Hockey and Cricket. He has also contributed to promotion of his trade to high school students by participating in Try-a-Trade events.
