Farm Planning at TAFE Western

Darryl & Marissa CliftSince 2006, TAFE Western has delivered the farm planning course to over 300 landholders across the western region.  The farm planning course is designed in conjunction with requirements of the various Catchment Management Authorities across the state. TAFE Western has ongoing partnerships with the Central West, Lachlan, Murrumbidgee, Murray-Darling, Northern Rivers and Western Catchment Management Authorities.

In order for land managers to receive Catchment Management Authority funding (from both state and federal sources) for ‘on-ground' Natural Resource Management (NRM) projects it is now compulsory that they have a certified farm plan for their properties.

TAFE Western's Statement of Attainment from the Certificate III Conservation Land Management course is targeted directly at land managers. The course allows participants to holistically view their farm enterprise and assess the impact of their actions on soils, water, vegetation, biodiversity and cultural heritage.

Course delivery is flexible and is offered in a blended approach with face-to-face and online units. The course is designed around the participant needs and timeframe. Face-to-face delivery is coordinated when all participants are available, with the online units accessible at all times.

The course makes it possible for landholders to develop green skills and solutions for long-term planning and development of the land.
