Agriculture

Australian Wool Innovation

Shearing Contractors Association of Australia

TAFE shearing contractors assn logoWestern has worked with the Shearing Contractors Association of Australia to develop and deliver training programs to new and existing staff in a manner that suits the industry.  Our trainers are recognised industry learners with extensive experience in the shearing business. We deliver novice training for new workers entering the industry; improver training to help increase shearing speed and accuracy as well as up-date skills and provide professional shearing coaching for experienced shearers to improve speed, accuracy and meet OH&S requirements. Clyde Agriculture

Clyde Agriculture employs over 120 people to produce wheat, beef, lamb, mutton, cotton and wool on rural holdings in Northern NSW and QLD. TAFE Western provided Clyde with an on-farm traineeship program tailored to their needs. Clyde employees have undertaken traineeships and apprenticeships and obtained nationally recognised qualifications in Cert II, III, IV and Diploma in Agriculture or Cotton. Many have continued to higher level qualifications at TAFE colleges, Agricultural colleges and Universities.

Many Clyde Agriculture staff have received extensive OH&S training.

Horticulture

Murdi Paaki

Murdi Paaki Regional Enterprise Corporation Ltd.'s primary objective is to provide indigenous communities with relevant and effective support services and resources to meet community needs and expectations. TAFE Western designed an effective training solution to enable indigenous students, overcoming the obstacles of distance and differences in learning styles, to attend or have access to the necessary information to complete a Cert II in Horticulture. To date, we have engaged and ran successful courses in communities in Bourke, Goodooga, Gilgandra and Wilcannia. Many students continue on their education to complete Cert III in Horticulture and beyond.

Naturally Green

Naturally Green LogoNaturally Green landscaping was opened in 2003 by Mick Curran in Orange, Central West NSW. Mick, an ex-student of TAFE Western, has won large and small contracts across the region. Mick chooses TAFE Western as his preferred trainer for all his training needs, and on average, three apprentices a year study Certificate III Horticulture. Naturally Green has just won a large contract for the landscaping of the new hospital currently being built in Orange.

Country Energy

Country Energy LogoCountry Energy operates Australia's largest energy supply network. The organisation has approximately 4,000 employees and services over 850,000 customers. Together with TAFE Western, a partnership was formed to deliver all chemical safety training in NSW using the SMARTtrain program. Over 500 Country Energy staff have successfully completed the SMARTtrain chemical course at AQF Level 3 or 4.  Click here to visit the Country Energy Website.

Mining

BEMAX Resources Ltd

Bemax Resources Ltd is one of Australia's premier mineral sands exploration companies with operations in NSW and WA. TAFE Western provided training in Extractive Industries Operations Certificate II, Frontline Management, Engineering (mechanical and fabrication trades), Metalliferous Mining Open Cut and Processing. Northparkes Mine

TAFE Western and Northparkes Mine have a long lasting relationship for over 15 years. TAFE Western provides a one-stop shop for the mine's entire business needs. There are currently eight separate programs on offer (besides the normal day-to-day training opportunities). TAFE Western have been able to provide customised training for NPM to effectively upskill staff qualifications and provide great quality staff and trainees for the workplace. Hanson

Hanson operates and manage quarries across the globe from North America to Europe to Australasia. They are the largest producer of aggregates - crushed rock, sand and gravel and one of the largest producers of concrete products, clay bricks and concrete in the world. TAFE Western has coordinated traineeships in Extractive Industries Cert III, Frontline Management Cert IV and many short courses ranging from Front End Loader training to concrete plant operations. TAFE Western's reputation and experience in training mining industry personnel is considered excellent across the mining industry.
