Blacksmithing Courses
Here at TAFE Western we offer blacksmithing courses on a regular basis throughout the year. The courses are held at our Orange Rural Skills Centre and are generally run over two days at the weekend. We offer two levels of blacksmithing course, Anvil 1, and Anvil 2.
Anvil 1
This is the introductory level course and participants learn how to use blacksmithing tools, make and tend the forge fire and use the skills of forging to produce creative items out of steel. You must complete Anvil 1, before enrolling in Anvil 2.
Anvil 2
This course continues from the basics learnt in Anvil 1 and participants learn how to make more creative items out of steel. Participants are encouraged to work on their own projects during the course with the instructor helping bring these ideas to life.
Students create numerous objects in the blacksmithing course, ranging from table sculptures, to candle holders to knives and shelf brackets. The limit is your own imagination.
Both of these courses are run on demand. Please contact the Horticulture Team in Orange on 02 6393 2688 or Dubbo on 02 6841 9701, or email horticulture@tafensw.edu.au to learn more and to register your interest.
