Horticulture at TAFE Western
Horticulture is a thriving industry in Australia and the career choices for students plentiful. TAFE Western is proud of courses it delivers for industry and the community, creating a skilled workforce for the future.
Traditional horticulture courses such as Certificate II to Diploma level Horticulture are offered. Floristry courses are run at both Dubbo and Orange Colleges, and on demand in other locations.
TAFE Western offers training in chemical handling using the SMARTtrain Chemical course framework.
Weekend courses are delivered throughout the year in blacksmithing as demand dictates.
Many courses are delivered in both face-to-face and by distance education modes. The Diploma of Viticulture is run over a period of two years using a blend of face-to-face and online training.
TAFE Western and its students benefit from a variety of industry partnerships. For example, there is a long standing relationship with the Australian Nursery Association. A recent horticulture graduate Regan Masman, was awarded the NGIA Certified Nursery Professional Student Scholarship in 2010.
